A TSA-compliant survival kit: solar battery bank, TSA-legal multi-tool, signal mirror, storm whistle, stainless water bottle, mylar blanket, emergency bivvy, small water filter, spark wheel, ferro rod, food bars and a strobe marker light. A TSA-compliant medical kit: tape, nitrile gloves, triangular bandages, gauze, a CAT tourniquet, an Israeli bandage, clotting agent and a chest seal. Then the plan before every trip: one kit per traveler packed small enough to add to a carry-on on short notice, a local medical class, an honest look at what role you would fill after a crash, a printed itinerary left with someone at home, dressing for the weather where you land and wearing shoes you can walk out in.
