Call to Action Checklist: Bug-Out Vehicle
The hands-on list for Survival Dispatch Insider Vol. 3 Issue 11. Six jobs that get your vehicle, and everyone who drives it, ready to leave.
Put together a vehicle emergency kit from what you already own, in a bin that fits the car. Look at your vehicle the way a stranger would and remove the clues about what is inside, then teach every driver in the house to change a tire themselves. Collect the spares and tools to fix the car on the road: engine belts, coolant, washer fluid, oil and a filter, and a gas can. Add cold-weather clothes, shoes, jackets and blankets as if you will sleep in the car or walk out through snow. Put paper maps in every vehicle with your evacuation routes marked, street, topo and a road atlas, and teach your family to navigate with them. And test an alternate way out: strap two packs to a bicycle and walk it around the block.
